#3: Recheck Your Text Before Sending
In today's workplace, most of our communication happens through text. As Erica Dhawan explains in Digital Body Language, when people can't see our facial expressions, hear our tone, or read our body language, they naturally fill in the gaps themselves. A message that seems perfectly clear to us can easily be misunderstood by someone else.
That's why taking one minute to recheck your message before hitting Send is one of the simplest habits that can make you a better producer.
Before sending, ask yourself:
Is my intention obvious?
Could someone read this in a different tone than I intended?
Have I included all the information the team needs?
Are the dates, links, and attachments correct?
Have I corrected any spelling, grammar, or typing mistakes that could distract from the message or change its meaning?
As producers, our job isn't only to move work forward—it's to create clarity. Every unclear message creates friction. Every clear message builds trust.
A quick review can prevent:
Unnecessary back-and-forth
Missed deadlines
Incorrect assumptions
Duplicate work
Confusion caused by typos or unclear wording
Frustration across the team
Digital communication has become our new body language. The words we choose, the structure of our message, punctuation, spelling, timing, and completeness all send signals about urgency, confidence, professionalism, and expectations.
Taking 60 seconds to review a message isn't about perfection—it's about respecting your team's time and making collaboration easier.
